This is the most important book to chronicle the work of God in the Confederate Armies during the War Between The States.  Dr. Jones, a Confederate chaplain, recounts the faithful testimonies and activities of Christian officers and men, colporteurs, missionaries, and other chaplains.  He cites the myriad ways the gospel went forth in preaching, Bible studies, and literature distribution, and recounts the widespread spiritual awakening which swept through the Southern Armies throughout the war.  Of all the writings of the prolific Dr. Jones, this is perhaps his greatest contribution to historical Christian literature. In recounting all of this he is present at battles, surgeries, advances and retreats and so provides insight into the events ongoing.
