(From the Collected Writings of James Henley Thornwell Vol. 4 Ecclesiastical)
This is a Scriptural exposition on the slavery issue, powerful and unanswerable refutation against the fanatical religious condemnation of the South's Presbyterian churches. This is a clear Scriptural presentation of the consequences of the church's beliefs on social order, including how the road to communism is consistent with abolitionism. This positional address was adopted unanimously by the SC synod in 1850. There is a brief biographical sketch of Thornwell.
