It covers the lives of many great Southern poets; Edgar Allan Poe, Disney Lanier, Paul Hayne, Henry Timrod, William Gilmore Simms, Joel Chandler Harris, Francist Scott Key, Father Ryan, Dr. George William Bagby, Margaret Junkin Preston, and Augusta Evans Wilson.

Although it has some of their poetry--this work mainly focuses on their lives and honors these iconic Southern individuals.
