Front: We are told from early Christian antiquity that the stewardship of the family and community are responsibilities of man as God’s agent; for the family in order to raise children in the nurture and admonitions of the Lord, Ephesians 6:4; for the community, in the form of human government, in order to execute God’s judgement upon evil among men, Genesis 9:1-6. Human government as originally instituted had only two missions: punishment of evil, and promotion of good*. Because man has been given freedom to choose between good and evil, evil men often rise in prominence as demagogues, boldly lying to those they wish to rule. Our Founders knew this and thus created a system of checks and balances under a Constitution founded upon Back: Law and the principle that a Christian people desire to be law abiding. To this end, the requisite prerogative is virtue. When virtue flees and the rule and intent of law is administered haphazardly by human will, their system fails. We have been witness to that failure since 1860.
